PDM ABRAMS - MINE ROLLER MOUNTING PLATE WELDMENT

THE CHALLENGE:

PdM Abrams required a new complete BCS Mine Roller Bracket Weldment for ongoing retrofit of the M1 Tank. Government ordered 30 complete systems comprised of 10 components custom fabricated to the Government Technical Data Package (TDP).

THE SOLUTION:

ADS worked with Allied Defense, LLC, utilizing build to print manufacturing and delivered 30 complete Mine Roller Bracket Weldment Systems to Anniston Army Depot for Depot retrofit and installation on the new M1 Tank chassis. Systems were delivered under the DLA Tailor Logistics Support (TLS) contract.

MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION CHALLENGES:

Complex geometry comprised of greater than 750 welds required specific weld production sequencing and cross stitching to maintain dimensional tolerances and avoid bracket warping
