SHELTER SOLUTIONS FOR DEPLOYING AND REDEPLOYING SAFELY DURING A PANDEMIC

COVID-19: ROM & QUARANTINE SOLUTIONS

/// PROBLEM

IMPLEMENTING DEPLOYMENT/REDEPLOYMENT SCREENING & ROM GUIDANCE
To ensure operational security and the safety of personnel and their families, units may need to quarantine large groups prior to and post mobilization during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes active duty and Reserve Component (RC) service members, as well as National Guard members in a title 10 or title 32 duty status and civilian employees deploying within or outside the U.S. until after it has been deemed safe to do so.

Force Health Protection Guidance (Supplement 9) addresses deployment and redeployment screenings and 14-day restriction of movement (ROM) during the coronavirus pandemic. Most units don’t have a designated area to house service members for the mandatory two-week, pre- and post-deployment quarantine. Read the entire memorandum at adsinc.com/FHPG.

Additionally, those with a confirmed positive COVID-19 test, symptomatic individuals and those who meet the probable infection requirements must be isolated. Because of the high transmission rate of this illness, patients can quickly overwhelm existing healthcare facilities if the virus isn’t kept under containment.
