COUNTER WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION

Whether you’re a breacher making entry into a hardened target, an EOD technician conducting a render safe procedure (RSP) or a HAZMAT technician responding to an incident, ADS’s CWMD team supports readiness against chemical, biological, nuclear and health security threats.

We work with suppliers, warfighters, law enforcement and first responders to develop systems designed to counter WMD and adapt to emerging technology trends in the following categories:

CBRNE

////////////

Full spectrum detection capabilities and personal protective equipment

Detection and Decontamination Experts

Staying current with rapid advancements is a challenge. The element of surprise, unseen agents, lethal devices and the constantly changing nature of the CBRNE threats make development of new technologies imperative.

Our detection and decontamination experts understand the wide landscape of detection and identification capabilities to advanced analytical identification tools. Our team identifies technological gaps and to bring you the very best defense equipment.

DETECTION

Detecting CBRNE threats without putting military personnel at unnecessary risk is a common objective in the next-generation warfighting. Detection systems, communication equipment and protective gear are designed for improved first responder safety.

PROTECTION

With a wide range of chemical, biological and radiological threats, it is imperative troops have foundation of personnel protective equipment and a breathing apparatus. ADS has contract vehicles in place to offer rapid acquisition of boots, gloves, suits and more.

DECONTAMINATION

The nature and extent of contamination is as unique as the environment it's in, and no single solution is applicable in all situations. ADS' experts can help first responders identify the appropriate combination of decontamination methods needed for a specific environment or threat.

DIVE & MARITIME EQUIPMENT

////////////

Compressors, wet suits, boats, masks, UUVs, ROVs

Dive and maritime operations incorporate maritime mobility equipment, including combatant craft, diving equipment and diver propulsion vehicles designed to transport and enable specialized operators to defeat waterborne WMDs and devices.

When ADS started out as Atlantic Diving Supply more than two decades ago, we outfitted Navy SEALs with the best wetsuits and diving equipment available. Since then, we’ve continually grown our relationships with industry-leading dive manufacturers to ensure our customers have the best available technology when determining equipment requirements.

Unmanned Undersea Systems (UUS) contain UUVs and ROVS designed to remotely—and oftentimes autonomously—locate high-priority underwater targets such as submerged Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) or sea mines.

Industry leaders are continually developing more capable unmanned systems to accomplish a wide variety of tasks, from discreet reconnaissance to neutralizing CBRNE threats. Unmanned missions have increased during the past decade, spurring users to incorporate unmanned systems into non-traditional facets of their operations—logistics, maintenance and repair and transportation. The DOD is already projecting an increase in time, resources, strategic initiatives, goals and planned expenditures related to unmanned systems.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) are utilized to locate, and identify mines, as well as other unexploded ordnance over large areas of open water. Deployed AUVs utilize side-scan SONAR to hunt for suspicious objects. Once a target is identified, the AUV data is uploaded to an ROV, which is piloted to the target for positive identification and inspection via real-time, high-definition video. Semi-autonomous mine disposal systems are designed to destroy mines with a built-in, large caliber-shaped charge.

EOD

////////////

Remote access kits, diagnostic systems and remote firing devices

IEDs can be quickly assembled with a variety of nonmilitary components and employed with little or no training. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians adapt to these regularly evolving devices through first-hand knowledge, state-of-the-art equipment and up-to-date training.

1. RECONNAISSANCE

EOD Technicians respond to a specific area to investigate and gather intelligence. A tactical robot with an audio and video payload helps gather real-time information.

2. DECONSTRUCTION

If disruption is not enough and the bomb must be destroyed, EOD technicians may deliver a countercharge to suspect IED via robot without risking human life.

3. DIAGNOSIS

X-ray kits may be added to a robot to help the technician determine whether the suspect package contains IED components.

4. REMOVAL

EOD technicians may direct the robot to carry the suspect device away from a busy traffic area to a more remote site for inspection or disposal. Technicians then use robots to disrupt devices.

Ground Robotics

Unmanned Ground Systems (UGS) enables operators to conduct reconnaissance, render safe or counter-charge procedures on WMDs remotely using robots. Unmanned ground vehicles have become ubiquitous in a multitude of roles, whether that’s to lighten the load our Warfighters need to carry, increase their stand-off distance from threats, provide enhanced situational awareness in various environments or employ convoy leader-follower technology. The ground-robotics market continues to shift toward systems that allow for unmanned deliveries of cargo while simultaneously serving as teammates to soldiers in the field, rather than simply as tools.
