How was your transition from military life to your civilian career?
The transition from military life to a civilian career was hard and is still something that I struggle with daily. Working as a team is the core of military service and no matter where I was deployed, we worked together to achieve the highest goal. While in the service, there is a very regimented and disciplined environment where individuals do what they are asked and follow orders. In the military, you trust and respect your leaders because they make strategic decisions based on their expertise and knowledge. In the civilian world, this can be different as leaders may want to include multiple levels of an organization in a decision in order to make everyone happy. Transitioning to an environment of individuals that may not understand chain of command or lack professional respect can be difficult.
While transition can be tough, because of the number of individuals with military experience that are employed at Atlantic Diving Supply and our daily interactions with service members, Atlantic Diving Supply embodies those key traits of leadership and teamwork that I am used to. I am proud to be part of such a fantastic civilian company.
