ADS Selected As Prime Contractor for the U.S. Army’s Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble
(FREE) Contract Valued at Over $1 Billion
Virginia Beach, Virginia (April 15, 2009) – ADS, Inc. has been awarded a contract valued at over $1 billion to deliver the U.S. Army’s new Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble (FREE). As the systems integrator, ADS will capitalize on its unparalleled product expertise and cutting edge distribution operations to lead a team of over ten U.S. technical garment manufacturers and technical textile companies to produce and supply the versatile, multi-layer, 17-component system for fielding this year.
FREE will provide the Army soldier with built-in protection from flame and heat threats present in combat conditions, while remaining highly functional in a spectrum of cold and wet weather climates. The FREE system is user-adaptable for field operations in rapidly evolving combat environments and protects the soldier from head to toe. It is designed specifically for aviation and combat vehicle crewmen, and utilizes advanced textile technologies in a range of garments, from lightweight base layers to weather-protecting outerwear.

The U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office, Product Manager, Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-CIE) awarded this indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract consisting of a base year and three additional option years. If all contract options are exercised the total contract value will exceed $1 billion.
The FREE system represents the best in American manufacturing and includes the latest in materials science and garment forming innovation. The companies supporting ADS on this contract include Barrier-Wear, Massif, Darn Tough Vermont, Polartec and London Bridge.

ADS Expands its Virginia Beach Operations Facility
ADS EXPANDS ITS VIRGINIA BEACH OPERATIONS WITH THE PURCHASE OF A NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FACILITY.
New Facility Will Allow for Future Growth
Virginia Beach, Virginia (February 20, 2009) – ADS, Inc. purchased the Lynnwood Plaza building in the Oceana West Corporate Park, in the Lynnhaven sub-market, as its new global headquarters. The building is located at 621 Lynnhaven Parkway at Viking Drive. This facility will allow ADS to ramp up operations in support of its recent selection by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) as a primary vendor for the Special Operational Equipment Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) Program.
Built in 1986, the Lynnwood Plaza building features 82,000 square feet of rentable space Class “A” office space located on four acres of land. ADS will initially occupy about 40,000 square feet of the building and lease the remaining area. In the future, the leased space will be used to accommodate the company’s growth and expansion. In addition to the initial building purchase, ADS will make a substantial capital investment in building interior improvements, as well as in furniture, fixtures and equipment at the facility.
ADS currently leases approximately 21,000 square feet of office space at nearby Pinehurst Centre. In anticipation of the increased demand for operational support and to allow ADS to better facilitate current government customer requirements, the company invested in an additional 80,000 square feet of warehouse space in Virginia Beach in August, 2008. This facility currently serves as the companies’ primary kitting, assembly and storage operations center. ADS also recently opened a 25,000 square foot sales and warehouse distribution center in San Diego, California to support its west coast operations.
With over 250 employees nationwide, ADS currently employs 192 people at its’ current Virginia Beach Headquarters and plans to create 75 new positions within 30 months of relocating to its new headquarters. This workforce expansion will include supply chain, accounting, business development and sales executive positions.

(Atlantic Diving Supply, Inc.) has acquired the assets of MAR-VEL International in order to continue to expand their Law Enforcement product line and accommodate the company’s overall steady growth. The new wholly-owned subsidiary of ADS will manage the sales and operations of ADS’ Law Enforcement Division under the MAR-VEL name, servicing all current ADS Law Enforcement (LE) contracts and increasing ADS’ capability to make additional products available to our nation’s soldiers and first responders.
Located in Pennsauken, New Jersey, and San Diego, California, MAR-VEL was a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Prime Vendor for the U.S. military and has supplied tactical, diving, marine lifesaving and personal protection equipment, including body armor and protective chemical-biological suits, to the military and first responder community since 1946. The MAR-VEL Prime Vendor contract has been moved to ADS.
ADS has transitioned MAR-VEL’s current 50-person workforce to its payroll and plans to grow the company at both locations, hiring additional people and bringing new work into the facilities. Virginia Beach, V.A. (January 9, 2008) – ADS, Inc. (Atlantic Diving Supply), has secured five regional Department of Defense (DoD) contracts totaling up to $4 billion to provide equipment and logistical support to federal and local agencies tasked with responding to fires and other emergencies at military installations, federal agencies and at the state and local level. ADS will be ramping up operations immediately and hiring new employees to fulfill these contracts, as they further expand their capabilities into the first responder sector.

This new contract enables us to translate our proven record of success in the logistics services solutions arena into making certain that our local and federal first responders have the tools and equipment they need to confront a spectrum of emergencies and carryout rescue missions. It is an honor that we look forward to undertaking immediately,” said ADS, Inc., CEO and President Luke Hillier. “This contract will double the size of our company in the next two years and allow us to greatly expand our employee base in the Virginia Beach area.”
Specifically, ADS will provide up to $800 million in emergency equipment, training and logistical support to federal, state and local first responders in each of the five geographic regions of the United States (Northeast, Southeast, Great Lakes, Midwest, West) for the next two years, with the option to extend each contract for an additional three years.
In efforts to cater to the diverse needs of each respective region, ADS will provide up to 9,000 various fire and rescue equipment items that will be available to each applying locality or agency. Specific items that may be provided include, fire emergency devices such as hoses, extinguishers, poles, ladders, and breathing apparatuses; hazmat suits, decontamination and detection devices, and protective products, such as, gloves, boots, helmets, and additional supplies to meet the needs of search and rescue operations, such as communication equipment, generators, surveillance and alarm systems.
With over 160 employees nationwide, ADS anticipates doubling this figure over the life of the contract and continuing to expand their Virginia Beach and San Diego, California facilities. They are currently working to secure a wide variety of additional contracts within the DoD and the Department of Homeland Security, and are continuing to field the Army’s Third Generation Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (GEN III ECWCS) to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
