FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
General Stanley McChrystal to Deliver Warrior Expo East Keynote
General McChrystal will open the Expo with his keynote, “Plywood Leadership,” and perform ribbon cutting
Virginia Beach, VA, May 11, 2011 – ADS, Inc. (Atlantic Diving Supply), the industry-leading operational equipment solutions provider, announced today that General Stanley McChrystal (USA-ret) will present the opening keynote “Plywood Leadership” before a show-opening ribbon-cutting ceremony at Warrior Expo East, July 14, 2011 at 0930. McChrystal’s keynote adds to Warrior Expo: the industry-leading event featuring over 1,500 US Military, federal agencies, state and/or local government agencies, law enforcement and first responder attendees and over 150 manufacturers for two days of new products and equipment, learning, networking, breakout sessions, and more, July 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
In his dynamic presentation, “Plywood Leadership: Lessons on Leadership from a Warrior, Statesman, and Scholar,” McChrystal shows how modern warfare, business, and politics demand no-nonsense leadership that is as good at implementing change as talking about it. He reveals the power of culture, communication, and relationships, sharing stories, experiences, and principals that make his points. McChrystal addresses such key leadership principles as transparency and inclusion, leveraging the power of teams through shared ownership, evolutionary change vs. revolutionary change, relentless mission focus, and sharing a clear vision with everyone who must execute against it.
A one-of-a-kind commander with remarkable record of achievement, McChrystal is widely praised for creating a revolution in warfare that fused intelligence and operations. A four-star general, he is the former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan and the former leader of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which oversees the military’s most sensitive forces. McChrystal’s leadership of JSOC is credited with the December 2003 capture of Saddam Hussein and the June 2006 location and killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. McChrystal, a former Green Beret, is known for his candor, innovative leadership, and going the distance. Called “one of America’s greatest warriors” by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, few people can speak about leadership, teamwork, and international affairs with as much insight as General Stanley McChrystal.
“We’re excited to kick-off Warrior Expo East 2011 with General McChrystal’s keynote,” said ADS CEO Luke Hillier. “General McChrystal exemplifies the qualities of a leader and a warrior,” said Hillier, “and his principles align with the ADS mission of providing our men and women in uniform with the operational equipment they need to increase their operational effectiveness, complete their missions, and make this world a safer place. There could be nothing more appropriate than General McChrystal’s keynote as an excellent start to Warrior Expo. Attendees, manufacturers, and ADS are privileged to have him as a keynote speaker.”
Now in its fifth year, Warrior Expo has evolved to East (Virginia Beach, VA) and West (San Diego, CA) editions, and has quickly become a legendary tradeshow for professionals from all branches of the military, federal agencies, state and/or local government agencies, law enforcement and first responders. In addition to industry-leading manufacturers and General McChrystal’s keynote, attendees can take advantage of industry seminars and breakout sessions addressing safety, survivability, and much more.
