Dive For The Cure, Fundraiser benefitting the fight against cancer
Virginia Beach, VA (February 8, 2010) – The Lynnhaven Dive Center will hold its 14th annual Dive for a Cure fundraiser, March 26-27, 2010 to help fight cancer. Sponsored by Lynnhaven Dive Center, ADS, Inc., Mythics, and the Hillier Foundation, this 24-hour scuba diving marathon raises money for various local cancer charities.
To date, this event has raised over $450,000 dollars, with a goal this year of $50,000. The charities that benefit are the American Cancer Society, Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater, A Dolphins Promise, the Hillier Foundation and FARGO (Foundation for Applied Research in Gastrointestinal Oncology).
There are several ways to participate in Dive for a Cure – diving, volunteering to help run the event and providing donations ranging from food, drinks, retail items for the silent auction or a monetary donation to one of the sponsored charities.
Held in the Lynnhaven Dive Center’s indoor, heated pool, certified instructors are on site to teach those with no experience how to dive.
This is 24-hour family friendly event is open to the public and begins at 4:00pm on Friday, March 26th. In addition to the dive itself, there will be kid and family friendly activities to include karaoke, a dunk tank, cornhole tournament and much more.
