ADS Expands Its Virginia Beach Operations With the Purchase of a New Corporate Headquarters Facility – New Facility Will Allow for Future Growth
Virginia Beach, Virginia (February 20, 2009) – ADS, Inc. purchased the Lynnwood Plaza building in the Oceana West Corporate Park, in the Lynnhaven sub-market, as its new global headquarters. The building is located at 621 Lynnhaven Parkway at Viking Drive. This facility will allow ADS to ramp up operations in support of its recent selection by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) as a primary vendor for the Special Operational Equipment Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) Program.
Built in 1986, the Lynnwood Plaza building features 82,000 square feet of rentable space Class “A” office space located on four acres of land. ADS will initially occupy about 40,000 square feet of the building and lease the remaining area. In the future, the leased space will be used to accommodate the company’s growth and expansion. In addition to the initial building purchase, ADS will make a substantial capital investment in building interior improvements, as well as in furniture, fixtures and equipment at the facility.
ADS currently leases approximately 21,000 square feet of office space at nearby Pinehurst Centre. In anticipation of the increased demand for operational support and to allow ADS to better facilitate current government customer requirements, the company invested in an additional 80,000 square feet of warehouse space in Virginia Beach in August, 2008. This facility currently serves as the companies’ primary kitting, assembly and storage operations center. ADS also recently opened a 25,000 square foot sales and warehouse distribution center in San Diego, California to support its west coast operations.
With over 250 employees nationwide, ADS currently employs 192 people at its’ current Virginia Beach Headquarters and plans to create 75 new positions within 30 months of relocating to its new headquarters. This workforce expansion will include supply chain, accounting, business development and sales executive positions.
“ADS is committed to meeting and exceeding the level of service our customers require. The cornerstone of this commitment to our customers is our people – the hard working employees at ADS. It’s important that they have a productive working environment to better serve our nation’s warfighters and first responders. Our new headquarters will enable us to build on our proven track record of success in the operational equipment and logistics solutions arena. It will also provide a superior environment for the men and women currently working at ADS and allow for future expansion of our workforce.” said ADS, Inc. CEO and President Luke Hillier.
Known for excellence in the operational equipment industry, ADS takes pride in providing a dynamic and motivating work environment. This philosophy guides the ADS culture and is a large part of what has made the company so successful. “We work hard to make sure we have the right people in the organization. We look for talent that doesn’t just fill the functional need, but also really can connect with the company’s values,” said Jennifer Edwards, Vice President of Human Resources. “That’s what makes us strong and able to weather difficult times.” ADS offers employees health care, dental and life insurance, access to a gym and personal training, along with a 401(k).
